| Kia K2 China-Specific Model Revealed Posted: 20 Apr 2011 08:36 AM PDT Kia has revealed to the world their new stylized Kia K2 at Shanghai. Kia K2, a revised version of 'Kia Rio' has been designed specifically for China. The car comes with dashing features and stylish cues borrowed from the larger K5 (Optima in the US market). K2 will be availed with two petrol engines. Though specifications of the Kia K2 have not yet been fully revealed, a 1.4-liter engine will likely produce 109 PS (80 kW / 108 hp) and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque. Also a 1.6-liter should develop 135 PS (99 kW / 133 hp) and 165 Nm (122 lb-ft) of torque. This small car will be available in 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchbacks Rio from Kia had entered the European market in 2005 and the North American market in 2006. Earlier redesigned many a time for American and European customers, the latest 2011 version Kia K2 is China specific. Production of the new Kia K2 will have Kia joining hands with Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Yueda (Dongfeng Yueda Kia), starting this midyear. Though Kia K2 sedan starts production this June, its hatchback counterpart is expected to start production only in August. Kia plans to build more products in China where they have an impressive market. And, the US version is expected to hit arrive in time for the New York Autoshow this week. |
| New Nissan Tiida Hatchback Shown at Shanghai Posted: 20 Apr 2011 08:33 AM PDT The new Nissan Tiida Hatchback version is ready to race in the Chinese market. Nissan has unveiled an updated version of Tiida at a media event at the Shanghai Auto show. Nissan Tiida, popularly identified as 'Nissan Versa' is said preview for the American version. The new version has a completely revamped sheet metal exterior and comes with a prolonged wheel base than its former by 3.9 inches adding to more interior room, thus comfort. Apart from the sharper looks, Nissan has an eye for economic virtue as well. The car will be one of the first to feature turbocharged engines in Chinese market. What is more exciting about Nissan Tiida is the introduction of the Xtronic CVT transmission technology that brings about better fuel economy, continuous power delivery and smooth acceleration Expect the car to reach Chinese customers this May. |
