McLaren F1 Successor to Boast of 799 Horsepower

Posted: 17 May 2011 08:41 AM PDT

McLaren doesn't seem to back out from its endeavor to create a new MP4-12C. Is it on road heading to line up with the iconic McLaren F1? It is being hinted that the new MP4-12C will be powered by a 799-horsepower, 5.0-liter version of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The flagship supercar is expected to be able to hit up to 60 miles per hour within 2.8-seconds before hitting 200 mph in 20 seconds flat.

As you know, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 has been developed with Ricardo and was mated to the same Graziano seven-speed “pre-cog” dual-clutch gearbox. Further, the new variant is likely to be built around a carbon-fiber monocoque.

Dubbed “Mega Mac”, it will be possibly out sometime in 2014 carrying a price tag of around $600,000.

VW Polo R Based On WRC Car Coming?

Posted: 17 May 2011 08:35 AM PDT

Is there any chance for a road-going Polo R variant hitting the roads soon? With Polo R WRC due to enter in 2013, we just can't rule out the possibilities of a road-going variant. The recent news on a Polo R WRC heading for a rally debut in 2013 is what made the suspicion stronger. However, VW is still wavering when it comes to Polo R.

While the rally racer features a 1.6-liter TSI engine with 300 PS (221 kW / 296 hp) and an all-wheel drive system, the road going variant is expected to come up with a 1.4 TSI tuned to above the 200 PS (147 kW / 197 bhp) mark and may not have an all-wheel drive system at all. It seems to resemble Scirocco R, which has a front-drive model. The current Polo GTI comes with a 1.4 TSI with 180 PS (132 kW / 178 hp) 249 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque.

But, how long will it take for the street-legal variant to make it to the market? Share what you feel about that.

We are pretty sure that our MINI fans out they will be excited to hear what's on the rear design of the new Coupe model – the MINI Coupe JCW. So, we have for you the latest spy shots of the much awaited MINI Coupe John Cooper Works. Have a look.

Expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show this September along with Roadster sibling, the 2012 Mini Coupe features an open hatch and a rear roof spoiler. The shots revealing the open hatch at the back makes it clear how tall the Coupe will be at the rear pillar.

The spied snaps also hint at a more upright windscreen than on the concept model. As you know, MINI had introduced the concept model at the Frankfurt show back in 2009.
