VW Golf GTI Cabriolet Concept Lets Out More Details

VW has come up some more details on their Golf GTI Cabriolet concept. Polished in Firespark metallic paint, the smart looking car features an aggressive GTI body kit, a lowered suspension and front/rear spoilers. Glossy black accents, red brake calipers and 19-inch alloy wheels are some of the other enhancements of this VW GTI variant.

A splendid interior has been rendered by Nappa leather upholstery, two-tone seat belts, and aluminum door sill plates. The 2.0-liter TSI engine is the source of power that develops 210 PS (155 kW / 208 hp) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque. The car attains 0-100 km/h in approximately seven seconds, before hitting a top speed of roughly 240 km/h (149 mph).

Volkswagen has fitted air vents to cool the brakes, lowered coil over suspension and the wheels have been given 235 performance rubber so as to bring in an almost perfect 'tuner' stance.  Although it has a 'concept' in its official title, it will possibly be a 2012 production model.

The BMW 1-Series is set for release in 2012 and will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The luxury car giant has come up with a design that looks more elegant than the previous model. The BMW 1-Series has borrowed its inspiration for its front fascia from its own 5-Series GT and 7-Series. The car looks impressive in the pictures we have in front of us.

Since the vehicle has a longer 2.69 meter (105.9 inch) wheelbase, the cabin becomes more spacious. The boot capacity is enhanced by an additional 200 liters (7 cubic feet). The interior comes with an improved design and has luxurious upholstery thrown in. These apart, the maker has added a 6.5-inch (or optional 8.8-inch) iDrive display. Moreover, there is also choice of collision warning system, speed limit detection, and Internet connectivity.

A variety of options make the engine system charming. While the turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol provides output of 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp), 170 PS (100 kW / 168 hp) and 250 PS (184 kW / 247 hp), on the diesel side, there’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that shoots up power of 116 PS (85 kW / 114 hp), 143 PS (105 kW / 141 hp) and 184 PS (135 kW / 181 hp).

Irrespective of the engines, it will be connected to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car will have fuel injection range of 4.3 to 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers (40.6 to 54.7 mpg US / 48.7 to 65.7 mpg).

Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid This July

Fisker's Karma plug-in hybrid, as you already know, has been going through a series of delays. However, there has been no detailed official explanation for this unexpected hold up. Fisker has now said that the first customer cars will arrive in the US this July.

This will be the second time the car has missed its scheduled launch date. Fisker plug-in hybrid has already missed two launch dates – the scheduled dates were during late 2009 and Spring 2011.

The Karma plug in hybrid comes with a 20kW lithium-ion battery that provides energy to two electric power trains that develop 300 kW (402 hp / 408 PS) and 1,300 Nm (959 lb/ft) of torque. This with sole support of electricity can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, hit a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph), and travel up to 80.5 km (50 miles) on electric power alone.

When your battery runs out, a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine acts as a generator to recharge it. Thanks to this, the car has an overall range of 483 km (300 miles), an average fuel consumption of 2.4 L/100km (98 mpg US), and CO2 emissions of 83 g/km.

This could be Fisker's last rescheduling of launch, as customers are not having any scarcity for plug-in hybrids in market. Let's hope the car arrives at least this time.
