Do you think it might be a good idea to ask people to pledge amount that they don't know how much is going to be ?
I think instead we need to do the following.
1. Clearly state in the very first message the need for creating this thread (pls include the business week article, Pappu's comments, comment from Aman's co worker - If you need help finding it, i can do it for you).
2. Also add to it that this is for the reimbursement of the expenses of the past. We don't really want to concentrate on how this is going to be handled in the future , may be someone can come up with suggestions on what should be set aside as administrative funds and things related to that. This is only for settling the amount already spent.
3. Only pledge is required stating the amount clearly and no funding is required at this time. We will instruct all the members who pledged once we get an expert advice on how to channel these funds.
If you can make these corrections it will be great.

If you treat the forums as your workplace then it will be better for all of us. No discussions on politics and religion. Period. As per our lawyers, right now USCIS is in the process of entering our applications in their system (for date of receipt and such). There was a memo from USCIS saying that they will be done with the job of data entry by August 1.
From August 1, we can expect either rejection or acceptance of the actual application. The hope is that a court/congressional intervention before August 1 will change the USCIS action of rejection into acceptance.

Most of the Congressman offices are now well aware of the issues, phone campaign is not an attempt to explain them the details.
It is more of a push for them to take action by giving them a sense of how frustrated we are. Not many "normal" people would just pick up the phone and call a congressman, right?
While clicking a mouse button takes a fraction of a second, you would have to spend atleast a few minutes picking up your phone, have enough belief in your issue to have the courage to speak to a live person and convey your message.

It is not an easy or trivial task to "just move on" and pursue plan B or plan C.
True. If the plan B/C is not up to par with plan A then it is definitely hard to move on. Plan A (GC) gives you a grand standard of living but Plan B (India etc.) gives you a first class citizenship plus a say in the society. It's not all bad.
With passage of time, the priorities and the drive of people change.
Given the passage of time priorities/drive should be geared more towards securing and making the best of what you have (home country's citizenship) rather than what you don't have (GC). Heck, even retirement based mutual funds work in that fashion (aggressive at first, conservative as time passes).
So, the immigration system should be quick and transparent.
No offense but it comes out a bit narcissist like ... don't ya think?

I would think IT experience is the same anywhere so taking it to canada should be ok? If not there are plenty of other management jobs there. It might be a new start but in a one year timespan you will be well established.
Is it just my wishful thinking?
As for masters, are you persuing MBA? How about PMP?

The trick is to find a good enough job for your experience level .. what is the point of going there and doing the same kind of job that you were stuck with here ?. Called all of them today morning. Requested the house reps to co-sponsor the 3 bills. It will be more effective if more constituents (or even CA residents) call in, rather non-constituents like me calling in.
Some of the offices did mention that they received lots of calls regarding the support for the 3 bills. Good going folks..

You seem to believe in all the conspiracy theories out there. India is no more a third world country. There are many deep pockets and if there was any such arbitrague existing people will mint money all day long. Rupee is not fully floating currency that doesn't mean you can control what the exchange rate is going to be. No company or congolmerate can manipulate market like that.
Yes, we are not a third world country. Thats why we still see people like Harshad Mehta and Abdul karim Telgi. Both stock market and stamp paper, backbone of indian economy could be easily exploited by two individuals.

Side note: stable oil(price) is the backbone of world economy. We know who manipulates this oil market and who gains out of it? Is it not a few corporations? But tell me honestly how many countries are affected by this inflated oil price.
One wallstreet analyst said. If you have Iran and Isreal in one statement, that is more than enough to shoot up the oil price. Why do we see calm and storm in the market every now and then?
Point here is: if this can happen in the developed nations, why not in India?

Read again. I did not call the consultants sleazy. Also, I did not generalize them. My support is followed in the second line.

To me, this statement does not really deliver anything substantial or meaningful. Can you please reiterate?

No, EB3 ROW can use all the available EB3 ROW numbers. But the unused EB2 (ROW/Mex/Phil) have been distributed to the oversubscribed countries.
That's how I interpret that.
The popular belief was that the unused EB2 ROW would first go EB3 ROW but according to this they actually go to the oversubscribed countries in the same category (EB2)
If EB2 quota stays at EB-2 and EB-1 quota goes to EB-2 if unused. That really benefits EB-2 India/China and will hurt all the EB-3 filer. I can see many EB-3 filer, no matter they are China/India/RoW may want to interfile and upgrade to EB-2. I wonder if USCIS do this in purpose to make extra revenue? If there are 30% of EB-3 filer try to file EB-2 again, USCIS can really make some bucks out. :eek:
