Well, you did not give your easy example, nothing about affirmative action, nothing about representation or overwhelmed by Indian and Chinese thing, and absolutely nothing about preferential treatment. Sanju, I did not promise to give you any more examples - easy or otherwise. People have made up their minds, and arguments against the stand devolves into character assassination. While I myself dont care about the dots, and seeing that the discussion started off, at least in part, about unscrupulous distribution of dots, I find it very ironic that I am getting insulting words thrown at me. Just got back from the rally, i would say it was a big success. Media coverage on the issue was fantastic. I saw the ABC7 news truck. There were many reporters from SJ Mercury news, SF Chronicle etc. Crowd was good, dont want to speculate on numbers yet but we should have an official word soon.

There are 3 bills in congress that will reduce the backlog in EB3. Thats quite an achievement because no matter what bright ideas we might have in this forum, getting the representatives in congress to adopt the "language" for the bills is very hard.

I got RFE on 485. My attorney filed reply for the same and it reached the USCIS office on 5th March 2009.
I observed LUD's for my I 485 on 5th and 6th March and after that from 13th to 17th March 2009 all five days continuously LUD's.
I do not have any application like I-129, EAD or AP pending for approval and my PD is not current.
Any clue guys?

On March 30 I had a soft LUD on my 485 and then on Apr9 my attorney recd an RFE.in my case the RFE went only to the attorney.

Since IV has contact e-mails for all its members, it can also send periodic e-mails on its activities, funding drives, recent achievements and ask for the members to contibute. This will be helpful for those who dont visit the site very often. For Example, recent update given by pappu inspired me to sign up for monthly contribution. But that would happen only if i visited the site very often. I would have missed it if i am not a regular visitor to the site.

This is applicable when 140 has been approved. If 485 is retrogressed then you will get 3 year extension. If it's current you will get 1 year extension. Guess depends on luck. For e.g if some one has applied for extension in July he/she will now get only 1 year. I found this in a lawyer's chat transcripts.

Don't bet on this too much. Not being pessimistic, but in a democracy it is not just what is done but who does it and how it is done. Why should Republicans in the outgoing Congress vote again on a bill when their majority status is obsolete now? Do you think democrats will allow this outgoing congress to take the credit? they are politicians too, anything crappy in that bill is going to be the new Congress's (read Democrat's) burden. Already, a bombshell is waiting in the form of a hastily passed by the house_hastily signed by teh President bill: there is a fine print that removes oversight of how money is spent in Iraq (at least some of it). So, there may even be review of hastily passed, pre-election bills. anything more like this is going to give this congress very very bad name and the next congress a really bad headache.
