Sebring 12 Hours Looks Like a NASCAR Race

Maaco Fremont watched the 59th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring on ESPN.  We thought we were watching a NASCAR event instead of American Le Mans. Endurance racing used to be tough enough without worring about other racers hitting you on purpose. No longer. Drivers bumped & grinded all 12 hours. Cars were destroyed, carried back to the pits, rebuilt and went back out on the track. Favorites from Audi & Ferrari were totaled allowing Peugeot to win overall for the 2nd year in a row and BMW to win the GT2 class.

2011 Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 luxurious and modern with a sporty design

Peugeot unveiled the new 3008 HYbrid4 diesel world’s first “hybrid ” vehicles. Hybrid powertrain of the new model combines a 2.0 liter 163 bhp HDi diesel engine and an electric motor of 37 hp. It offers a combined fuel consumption of 74.4mpg Drive Cycle and CO2 emissions of 99g/km. The engine is mated to an electronically controlled six-speed manual sequential.
To operate the diesel full hybrid vehicle, the driver can choose between four modes: Auto, ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle), Four Wheel Drive and Sport. Automatic mode is the most fuel efficient because it uses the diesel engine and electric motor. ZEV mode is obviously used when the driver wants to use the electric motor alone. In this mode, the diesel engine only kicking in when the vehicle accelerates rapidly. The FWD unit allows the engine to power the front wheels while the electric motor powers the rear wheels. Last but not least, is the Sport mode. This mode is ideal when the driver wants to make “faster shifts gears at higher engine speeds than normal. ”
The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 also comes equipped with a Stop & Start system. This system allows the engine to “rest ” while the vehicle is stopped. By launching the first full hybrid vehicle diesel – 3008 4 Hybrid – Peugeot will be writing a new chapter in automobile history. The combination of an engine of 163 hp from 2.0 liters of fuel efficient HDi diesel and a 37 hp electric motor is the ideal combination for a hybrid vehicle. Unlike previous hybrid vehicles which have opted to use less fuel efficient gasoline engine, diesel engine Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 Drive provides superior fuel consumption combined cycle and 74.4mpg CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

The train of “hybrid” force simply combines a HDi diesel engine and an electric motor. With its exceptional efficiency, HDi diesel engines are thermodynamically more efficient than a gasoline engine and offer a 30% reduction in fuel consumption. Clearly, the HDi diesel engine is the best choice of internal combustion engine.

To date, the Electric 106, marketed between 1995 and 2003, remains the best selling car in the world of zero emissions (totaling nearly 10,000 vehicles were produced). French carmaker Peugeot Citroen has returned to a full-year profit after seeing a strong recovery in 2010.

Sales rose by 15.8% to 56bn euros ($76.5bn; £47.6bn), "driven by successful new models, market share gains and improved demand worldwide".

It reported a net profit of 1.13bn euros for last year, compared with a loss of 1.16bn euros in 2009.

Peugeot said that in 2011 it would continue with its second joint venture in China and would enter India.

Chairman Philippe Varin said 2010's results were "significantly ahead" of target.

When carmakers globally were suffering due to a drop in demand during the financial crisis, Peugeot received a 3bn euro loan from the French government in April 2009.

In September 2010, it repaid a third of that, and Mr Varin said the company's "solid financial situation" would enable it to reimburse fully the remaining 2bn euros.

The carmaker said it expected the European market to remain stable in 2011, but forecast growth of 4% in Latin America, 10% in China and 15% in Russia.t

Em nota, a Peugeot informou que a criação do estilo do 408 específico para a América Latina e os estudos complementares relacionados ao produto e ao cliente foram realizados pela matriz da marca na França e e pelo São Paulo Tech Center, Centro de Tecnologia da empresa localizado em São Paulo.
A apresentação do novo 408 para a América Latina está confirmada para a 50ª edição do Salão de São Paulo, em outubro. Além de Brasil e Argentina, o novo 408 será comercializado em outros 25 países da América Latina a partir do ano que vem, mas a Pegueot ainda não divulgou preços.

Peugeot tem os olhos postos no mercado, Audi TT, mas não é, talvez, demasiado impetuoso sobre isso.Mostrado durante o recente Salão Automóvel de Frankfurt, o 308 RC Z concept car da Peugeot, é a interpretação de prazer de condução. Moderno, original e bem balanceada são as palavras que melhor descrevem a direção do estudo de design.


Uso de componentes em alumínio para peças como o rolo de mais de duas barras de proteção mais a tela de policarbonato de vento traseiro e carroceria de fibra de carbono peças helpto menor a massa do veículo, tornando-o mais ágil possível.


O design aerodinâmico não é só tenso, mas também fornece eficiente especificações aerodinâmicas. As duas seções curvas emergentes formam o Peugeot 308 RC Z teto dão ao veículo uma aparência original e contriute grandemente a sua eficiência aerodinâmica. O desenho da porta da bagageira auxilia o fluxo de ar sobre a parte traseira do veículo enquanto o formato da traseira do 308RC Peugeot Z fornece suficiente força para baixo sobre a suspensão traseira para eliminar a necessidade de um spoiler traseiro, preservando assim a pureza das linhas do carro .
Todas estas melhorar o desempenho e consumo de combustível do carro. O modelo de produção permite Peugeot a adotar a concepção frente elegante, para compartilhar um grande número de componentes e capitalizar o 308 hatchback de pontos fortes.
